Walkup partner, Michael A. Kelly, has been selected by a poll of attorney-readers of San Francisco’s Recorder legal newspaper as the “Best Personal Injury Attorney” in San Francisco, California.

The 2009 poll conducted by The Recorder asked about personal injury attorneys for the first time. Kelly is the first attorney to be selected for this award.

All of those who responded were required to submit their California State Bar number along with their responses, guaranteeing that only licensed members of the California Bar were polled. The results were tallied by a team of Recorder employees – none of whom had any connection to advertising or marketing.

This honor is the most recent award Kelly has garnered in 2009. Earlier this year, he was featured on the cover of the Northern California Super Lawyers magazine. He has been annually selected among the top Northern California trial lawyers by various publications, including the ” Best Lawyers in America” who named him to their Northern California “Top” List for the 10th consecutive year in 2009.

Kelly’s practice is limited to catastrophic personal injuries and wrongful death. His areas of subspecialty include obstetrical negligence, wrongful death, product liability and brain injury claims. For more than 25 years he has held an “AV” rating from Martindale Hubbell. He has also been honored by local bar associations for his commitment to the underrepresented and underserved. In 2008 the Sonoma County Legal Aid Society honored him for his commitment to the poor. In 2007 the Bar Association of San Francisco presented him with a citation acknowledging his commitment to the importance of training lawyers for children.

In 2010 he will serve as the President of the San Francisco Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
