Andrew McDevitt is a 2010 graduate of UC Hastings College of the Law, who joined Walkup, Melodia, Kelly & Schoenberger as an associate attorney in January of 2011. From 2008 to 2010, he worked as a law clerk for the Walkup firm.

While attending Hastings, Mr. McDevitt was a founding member and Executive Production Editor of the Hastings Science & Technology Law Journal. He was also a member of the Hastings Trial Team, participating in four national trial competitions. Mr. McDevitt helped lead the team to a First Place finish in the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Mock Trial Competition and to the semi-finals of the 2009 California Association for Criminal Justice competition. During his final semester of law school, Mr. McDevitt served as a judicial extern to the Honorable A. James Robertson II of the San Francisco Superior Court.

Prior to attending Hastings, Mr. McDevitt graduated magna cum laude in mechanical engineering at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He achieved numerous academic honors, including being named to the President's List and Dean's List, invitation into Pi Tau Sigma and Tau Beta Pi engineering honor societies, and acceptance into the Golden Key International Honor Society. He was an active member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Mr. McDevitt was the first student to design and build carbon fiber wheels for the university's automotive racing team—Formula SAE.

He has worked on a broad spectrum of personal injury, including pediatric/obstetric cases involving midwife negligence, hospital negligence, and obstetrician negligence. He has collaborated with other Walkup attorneys on cases where newborns suffered injuries due to lack of oxygen to the brain, known as hypoxia or asphyxia, and cases where newborns suffer traumatic injuries.
