2016 in product recalls

The year 2016 was a big one for product recalls, with perhaps the massive recalls of Takata airbags and the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 making the most headlines. Many of these recalls were the result of consumers suffering serious injury because of the product was defectively designed or manufactured.

Here are some of the most important recalls of 2016, as reported by the Glen Falls Post-Star:

· Takata airbags. Specifically, the inflators that tended to cause airbags to burst open too hard. At 100,000,000 inflators involved, this is the biggest auto recall in history.

· CRF Frozen foods. The company was forced to recall 47,000,000 pounds of fruit and vegetables contaminated with listeria.

· McDonald's fitness bands. The fast-food chain recalled 32,600,000 bands sold in its Happy Meals over complaints about skin irritation.

· IKEA chests and dressers. The company's Malm dressers were unstable and tipped over, killing several children.

· General Mills flour. Flour produced at one of the food giant's plants led to an E. coli outbreak. About 5,000 tons of flour were recalled.

These are just a few examples of nationwide recalls that took place last year. Poorly designed and constructed products hurt people throughout the year, and dozens more products ended up being recalled as a result.

If you get hurt by a defective product in the coming weeks and months, a products liability attorney can help you fight for what is right.
