Super Lawyers 2007

In 2006-2007, Walkup Melodia lawyers continued to demonstrate skill and creativity. Whether in trial, arbitration or mediation, our plaintiff personal injury specialists stood out from the crowd. In the courtroom, Mike Kelly’s $3,160,000 verdict in El Dorado County was the largest plaintiff’s verdict on record in a medical negligence case in that jurisdiction. Matthew Davis won a case in San Francisco Superior Court on behalf of a MUNI patron who fell from an LRV as a result of transit company negligence. Rich Schoenberger tried a complex medical negligence case in Sonoma while Paul Melodia settled multiple claims against the State’s largest HMO and Ron Wecht concluded a major SUV rollover case. And not to be forgotten, Dan Kelly was again saluted as Northern California’s top independent mediator.

More than half of our partners were elected by their peers to the 2007 Super Lawyers list. Mike Kelly and Paul Melodia received particular recognition: Mike on the Northern California Top 10 list, and Paul on the Top 100 list of Super Lawyers. At Walkup, we have been winning for the plaintiff for almost 50 years. All of our listed Super Lawyers are AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell. They have been nominated as Trial Lawyer of the Year by the SFTLA, and have served as officers in the American Board of Trial Advocates, the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Society of Barristers and National Institute of Trial Advocacy.

As nationally known plaintiff advocates, major corporations, insurance industry executives, and defense lawyers all know the skill of Walkup attorneys. We are California’s premier personal injury firm having recovered millions of dollars for injured plaintiffs throughout both California. Our lawyers have helped shape liability law. We are at the forefront of protecting consumers from defective drugs, roll-over prone vehicles, medical devices that cause harm and products that injure or kill. We have enforced consumers’ rights in class actions in both California. We continue the tradition Bruce Walkup began, representing patients against health-care providers who have failed to provide treatment that is within the standard of care, and have successfully concluded more Kaiser arbitration claims than any other law firm in Northern California. Our skills are better, our technology cutting-edge, and our resources unmatched.
