Super Lawyers 2008
Posted on December 13, 2011 in Awards
This past year, Walkup, Melodia, Kelly and Shoenberger continued to lead the way in representing clients injured by corporate and individual negligence, product defects, public entity wrongdoing and workplace safety hazards. Whether in trial, arbitration or mediation, our personal injury specialists stood out from the crowd.
In the courtroom, Mike Kelly and Doris Cheng obtained a verdict for $9.4 million on behalf of a Sonoma County laborer, earning them nominations as finalists for SFTLA’s “Trial Lawyer of the Year award. Rich Schoenberger and Doris Cheng concluded a multimillion-dollar settlement against the Archdiocese of San Diego on behalf of sexual abuse victims; Douglas Saeltzer and Rich Schoenberger concluded a $6 million workplace injury claim for a brain-damaged contractor in San Francisco Superior Court; Matthew Davis settled a statewide class action on behalf of more than one and a half million eyewear consumers against Lenscrafters; and Paul Melodia concluded one of the largest birth injury cases in recent history against Kaiser HMO. Dan Kelly was again honored as one of Northern California’s top mediators. And we are extremely proud of our partners who directed and staffed a three-day pro bono litigation skills training camp for San Francisco juvenile defenders and child advocates, earning an award of merit from the San Francisco Bar Association.
In 2008, Mike Kelly was singled out for the second year in a row as one of Northern California’s Top Ten lawyers in Super Lawyers®. In addition, more than half of our partners were voted by their peers to the 2008 Super Lawyers list.
At Walkup, we have been winning for the plaintiff for 50 years. All of our listed Super Lawyers are AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell®. They are leaders in ABOTA, the American Inns of Court, NITA and the International Society of Barristers. Major corporations, insurance industry executives and defense lawyers recognize our skill and competence. We are California’s premier personal injury firm having recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for injured plaintiffs. Our litigators are at the forefront of protecting consumers from substandard medical care, defective products, unsafe vehicles, medical devices that cause harm and children’s toys that injure or kill. We continue the tradition Bruce Walkup began in 1959. Our skills are better, our technology cutting-edge, and our resources unmatched.
