Michael A. Kelly Named 2022 “Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame” Inductee by the National Trial Lawyers Association

Walkup, Melodia, Kelly & Schoenberger is proud to congratulate shareholder Michael A. Kelly who has been honored as a 2022 “Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame” inductee by the National Trial Lawyers Association.

NTL is recognizing Mr. Kelly for his 45-year career as a trial lawyer working to protect consumers from corporate greed, medical mistakes, dangerous household products, and unsafe medical devices. He will be honored on April 6, 2022, at the Las Vegas spring edition of Mass Torts Made Perfect, the largest national gathering of plaintiff attorneys who prosecute mass actions.

One of the nation’s most prominent plaintiff lawyers, Kelly has been involved in some of the country’s most significant consumer protection cases, helping to make the world safer. For 35 years he has taught lawyers across the country trial advocacy techniques and been honored by the California Judicial Council with appointment to the Judicial Council’s C.A.C.I. jury instruction committee since 2002. Over his career he has tried, arbitrated, or settled more than 200 cases where the recovery by his client exceeded $1 million.

He is currently co-lead counsel in California JCCP 5031, which alleges an association between the herbicide Paraquat and Parkinson’s disease. As a member of the Fire Victim’s Trust Oversight Committee, he works to improve the efficiency of the claims payment process distributing monies owed to claimants from the Wine Country and Camp fires of 2017 and 2018.

In 2021 Kelly was inducted into the Lawdragon Hall of Fame. The Daily Journal named him a Top Plaintiff Lawyer in 2021. The Northern California Super Lawyers publication has named Kelly a “Top Ten” honoree for the last five years. In 2020 and 2021, he received recognition as the #1 vote getter in all of Northern California. Other accolades include his selection as “Trial Lawyer of the Year” by the eight chapters of Cal-ABOTA.

Throughout American history, exceptional trial lawyers have exceeded the expectations of the public and their peers by clearly establishing themselves, through their practice, as true champions and crusaders for American justice. The National Trial Lawyers Association established the Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame to honor these legendary trial lawyers. Each year, the Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame honors a small group of individuals who have left an indelible mark on the American legal system through a lifetime of service to the American public and the American trial bar.
