Reggie Payne’s family shared their emotional story with the Sacramento Bee in the wake of newly released evidence in their federal civil rights wrongful death lawsuit against the City of Sacramento. Payne died in 2020 after firefighters violated protocols and training, standing by as police officers used an improper prone position to restrain him during a medical emergency. In the article, Payne’s mother and sister expressed their frustration and determination to seek justice for Reggie’s wrongful death.
