Recently, Lawdragon Press interviewed Michael Kelly, our firm's managing partner. Kelly, who has been practicing personal injury law in his hometown of San Francisco for 40 years, discussed his law school experience, how his practice has changed over the years, and, of course, the San Francisco Giants.
Mike Kelly was the keynote speaker at the annual meeting of the Orange County Consumer Attorneys (OCCA) and the Inland Empire Consumer Attorneys Association (IECA) which was held at the Omni Las Palmas resort in Palm Springs May 21-23. The event, a continuing legal education program for attorneys specializing in representing plaintiffs in personal injury cases throughout the southern part of the state, broke historic attendance records and featured a roster of outstanding speakers. Mike's address focused upon issues of professionalism and the trial lawyer's responsibility to respect and promote the principles that the Constitution's founding fathers thought so important when they included the Eighth Amendment ( right to a civil jury trial ) among the Bill of Rights. At the Saturday night awards ceremony, Michael Bidart, of Claremont, was presented with the OCCA's Trial Lawyer Of The Year Award, and Judge Janet Frangie of the San Bernardino Superior Court was honored as the areas Trial Judge Of The Year.
We at Walkup, Melodia, Kelly & Schoenberger are proud to announce that Doris Cheng has been selected for membership in the American College of Trial Lawyers. This special honor was made even more special when the ACTL asked Doris to "speak for her class" of 82 new members at the organization's recent annual meeting.
The Walkup firm applauds Shaun Livingston of the fabulous Golden State Warriors for biking to work! We will root extra hard for him to do well during the playoffs. The Walkup law firm is celebrating Bike-to-Work-Day next Thursday, May 14, by giving out 15,000 safety lights to bicyclists in San Francisco and the Peninsula and South Bay. The lights will be included in goodie bags handed out to cyclists that day by members of the San Francisco and Silicon Valley Bike Coalitions. Be seen and be safe.
In honor of Bike to Work Day 2015, we bike safety lawyers are hosting a friendly competition to identify the Brightest, Lightest Cyclist (hey, it rhymes) on our streets. The lucky winner will receive San Francisco Giants club level tickets and a parking pass for Sunday, June 14 (3rd game against the Diamondbacks).
Back on Feb. 6, we shared our firm's involvement with Walk to Work Day. Walkup, Melodia, Kelly & Schoenberger is proud to be a Street Star Sponsor for San Francisco's Walk to Work Day, which is April 9 -- just around the corner.

In a couple of blog posts from January, we shared about our commitment at Walkup, Melodia, Kelly & Schoenberger to giving back to the community. We are particularly proud of our involvement with Walk San Francisco, a nonprofit group dedicated to improving the safety of pedestrians in the city.
In our previous post, we shared some of the ways in which attorneys and other staff for Walkup, Melodia, Kelly & Schoenberger give back by aiding the less fortunate. We focused on our support for worthwhile organizations like Walk San Francisco and the San Francisco Firefighters.
